Toguruga at Ombak Bali Surf Film Festival 2018

The Ombak Bali Surf Film Festival 2018, which held from 12 to 15 September 2018 in La Laguna, Canggu, Bali, has finished with a triumph. Entered its 10th edition, Ombak Bali is the 1st platform for national and international surf filmmakers to expose their films to an interested public in South East Asia.

The festival embraces innovative, adventurous and independent filmmaking and has a focus on recent work. Both talented newcomers and more established directors from Indonesia and around the world are being celebrated during the three-day event.

Toguruga by Malaria House was one of the film screened at the festival on Friday, 14 September 2018, at 20:30 pm Bali time. Toguruga showed the definition of surfing from one of the indigenous tribe in Indonesia, deep in the north of Morotai Island. Toguruga brought the audience to return to the origin of surfing, it’s all about having fun. Other movies that were being screened are “It’s Not About Boobs and Butts” and “Andy Irons - Kissed by God”.

Other than film screening, Ombak Bali also entertained the audience with music performance by musicians like Marapu and Tippa Irie.

Ombak Bali also aims to promote awareness of the environment and social issues by screening inspiring surf films that go beyond the waves. The closing of the festival was done by doing a beach clean up right in front of La Laguna and a yoga activity.
